Daniel joined LARKIN+ in 2013 as a Planning and Design Technician. He is now a Planner at LARKIN+ with a full membership of both the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) and the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP). He also holds an Ontario’s Registered Professional Planner designation (RPP). He has experience in land use planning, urban regeneration, architecture, and urban design. In addition to his experience in Canada (since 2011) working on a wide range of planning issues for private consulting firms in Ontario, Daniel also has significant experience in municipal planning for Bogota City Planning Department, Colombia (1996 to 2010). Daniel has developed skills in research, interpretation, and graphic modelling, which he applies when preparing land use planning applications and supporting materials, as well as urban growth and built form analysis. He holds a Master’s degree in Architectural Science (2003), and a Bachelor (Hons) in Architecture, both from the National University of Colombia. He was a Professor at the School of Architecture and Urbanism at the National University of Colombia from 1997 to 2010.
Daniel is a team player who enjoys the collaborative work environment offered by private sector planning. Daniel was born in Leticia, Colombia; a small town by the edge of the Amazon River located in the frontier region close to Peru and Brazil. He spent his early years in Bogota, Capital of Colombia, where he undertook his education in Architecture. After graduating, he gained experience in different areas of Urban Planning while working at the Planning Department of Bogota City. When he is not playing and coaching soccer with his two sons, Daniel loves to travel to Ontario’s Natural Parks including Algonquin Park and the Bruce Peninsula, simply to enjoy nature and the scenic views they have to offer. Daniel has attained a Master’s of Science Degree in Architecture and has always had a keen interest in travelling to major cities and small towns for their wonderful architecture and history. Daniel enjoys a multitude of activities that capture his attention in discovering new things, people, places and buildings including modern art, photography and jazz music.
