Michele joined LARKIN+ in 2008, as a Land Use Planner. Michele earned an accredited Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree from the University of Waterloo in Urban and Regional Planning and a Master’s of Arts in Environmental Geography from the University of Toronto. She has been involved in most facets of land use planning projects including site plan approvals, municipal and regional amendments, plans of subdivision, land use investigations and OMB hearing preparation. Throughout the years, she has worked in the areas of land use planning, waste management and social impact assessment. Michele’s particular expertise pertains to rural planning and cemetery planning and her strengths include provincial, regional and municipal policy analysis and research, thus contributing to the intellectual knowledge base of the firm. Together with Mr. Larkin she has co-authored several articles pertaining to the challenges associated with planning for cemeteries and examining appropriate horizons employed in the development of land use policy.

Personal

Originally, from Collingwood, Ontario, Michelle has also lived in Waterloo for her university career, followed by the City of Toronto to achieve her Master’s degree in Environmental Geography, where she also gained career experience in the planning industry. Michele her husband and three children eventually settled in King Township, which they have called home for the last 20 years. When Michele isn’t planning, she enjoys being outdoors during the winter months for downhill and cross country skiing. Michele has always enjoyed being actively fit which is why she often practices Yoga and Pilates. Her greatest passion however, is the competitive sport of equestrian, horseback riding. Michele loves horses and has a breadth of knowledge in raising and training ponies for competitions, having owned a pony since she was a young girl. Since then, she has passed this beloved hobby on to her youngest daughter and is often busy driving around the Ontario circuit to numerous equestrian competitions.
